When Can We Expect The XBox 720?

Not too long ago, Nintendo announced that their next games console, to follow up the Nintendo Wii, would be released in 2012. This has prompted much speculation amongst the gaming community, particularly XBox gamers, about when we might possibly see a follow up the XBox 360. Here, we look at whether the next generation of XBox, code name ‘XBox 720’, is on the horizon or not.
Now, what we can almost certainly guarantee is that the XBox 720 will far surpass the specs of the 360. Of course, we have no concrete evidence to suggest you, but it would be surprising if we didn’t see a major improvement across the board in software and hardware. The speculation is growing amongst the internet gaming community and you can be sure that Microsoft representatives are keeping a close eye on what gamers expect from the next console to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and potential advantages over Nintendo and Sony.
The timing of Nintendo’s release of their next console, scheduled for early 2012, will probably see Microsoft’s next potential console release stretch to the later end of next year at the earliest; it would be surprising and highly unlikely to see two of the top three console brands releasing their next big gaming experience at near enough the same time.
So when do I expect to see the XBox 720? Not until 2013 at the latest for me. It just wouldn’t make much sense to see the XBox 720 in the next year, especially with the Microsoft Kinect still a very fresh product in the market. I would expect the XBox 360 to have at least another year of shelf life before people begin to crave the next console.
I myself am more than happy with my 360 at the moment; I’m obviously keen to see an improved XBox come out and I know I’d be excited when details started to filter through about a possible next console, but I’m happy enough for now. Although I’m intrigued to see the next Nintendo console (and we know Sony’s next Playstation is a long way off), I don’t think I’ll be parting with my 360 anytime soon.
